Today, I go back to the beginning of your website traffic education. I wish I could just wipe your head clean and unteach you all the wrong things since you’ve probably been fed so much nonsense and so many different things. So, take a deep breath and join me as I walk you through a few rules to reveal the reality about website traffic.

 

Rule 1: Be Prepared

 

website trafficI want to start by emphasizing that you must be prepared for website traffic. Yes! Make sure you’re prepared for traffic before you even consider what strategies to employ.

 

Are you delivering traffic to a page that is prepared for traffic? Is it presented professionally and is it simple to use? Is the call to action compelling? Etc.  Any page you direct traffic to, whether it be a sales page, a blog post, a lead capture page, etc., must have a single, obvious purpose for the visitor.

 

For instance, let’s say you were directing visitors to a lead capture page. Make sure you have a compelling offer there that people will want, text that compels them to act immediately, and a simple route for them to acquire it. No other links or diversions. Nothing!

 

The first step in generating traffic is to ensure that anything you’re driving traffic to is prepared and capable of performing the task you assign to it.   It might be to persuade someone to subscribe to your list, make a purchase, click a link, etc.  That doesn’t matter.  What matters is that it works.

 

Why would you want to exert the effort of driving a lot of traffic if what you already have won’t yield the outcomes you require?

 

In the vast majority of cases, send traffic to a page that captures leads or helps you create a list. You can email and drive individuals wherever you want once you have them on your list. Stop spending time and money on one-time, non-reusable traffic. Create an email list to enable you to send traffic anywhere at any time.

 

Rule 2: Choose Your Website Traffic Strategy

 

website trafficThe next step is choosing the strategy you wish to use to drive visitors to your website. What traffic strategies are you intending to employ? Most individuals have a breakdown at this point and try to learn how to do everything, never doing enough of any one item to generate any traffic. You don’t want to do that because if you don’t concentrate on a small number of website traffic methods, you’ll never get any genuine results.

 

Basically, there are three techniques to increase traffic:

You can purchase advertising space on websites matching your niche, solo commercials, social network ads, and a whole lot more. This is a terrific alternative if you have proof that your investment produces results (you make sales, list opt-ins, or achieve whatever outcome you desire), since you will be able to earn your costs back and then some. But if you don’t know that what you have works, you’ll waste a lot of money trying to figure it all out.

 

As a general rule, I won’t employ paid advertising unless I am certain that I have a strategy that will produce results. Your best chance in this situation would be to enlist a professional to assist you with website copy and everything else. Otherwise, you risk wasting a lot of money.

 

Website traffic can be borrowed.

 

Utilize the traffic that others can send you when I say “borrow.” Here, you’ll set up an affiliate program and solicit traffic from affiliates. You either give them a commission or pay them for the acts that their agents do on your behalf. There are several methods to do this, but a product and an affiliate program are necessary. If you have your own products and services, this is a fantastic choice.

website trafficThe majority of other traffic strategies reside here. This is the area where you generate the traffic. By mining it, it means you are searching for it. Traffic mining techniques include blogging, social media marketing, guest blogging, SEO, YouTube marketing, and a long list of others.

Decide what traffic strategies you’re going to employ using what I’ve taught you here. Don’t attempt to complete them all at once; educate yourself and learn how to use the tools you choose to employ.

Rule 3: Be Consistent

 

website trafficCommit to doing at least one actionable activity to increase website traffic daily, regardless of the strategy you choose to use.

 

If you use paid advertising, you must ensure that your campaigns are effective (stat checking), split test ads against your own to improve their performance, and look for additional venues to advertise in.

 

If you are in charge of an affiliate program, you should be working on recruiting affiliates, developing fresh marketing materials, etc.

 

It’s difficult to say how well you’re mining it because there are a multitude of different ways to do it, but you must work on it each and every day, regardless of how you choose to mine it.

 

Here, the concept is clear. Regardless of how you manage traffic, you must always be doing something. Your traffic will stop the moment you quit doing what it takes to generate it. Keep in mind that your traffic stops and your revenues cease when you don’t feel like working that day or when you find yourself getting sidetracked with other activities.

Now that I’ve briefly taken you back in time and reset your thinking, I advise you to make sure the destination you’re driving traffic to is genuinely prepared for it, to devise a traffic plan to follow, and to drive traffic consistently every day. This is the crux of the matter and the whole truth about website traffic!

When starting a new project or initiative, it’s important to have a plan and set achievable goals. Here are a few tips to help get you started:

1. Create a strategy.

What are your objectives and how will you achieve them?

2. Research your competition.

What are they doing that you can improve on?

3. Establish key milestones.

Be certain to track progress along the way.

4. Get organized.

Have a clear idea of who is responsible for each task and when it needs to be completed.

5. Mobilize your resources.

Who can help you with this project and how can they be best utilized?

6. Keep communication open.

Make sure everyone involved is aware of the latest updates and what is expected of them.

7. Celebrate successes!

Acknowledge everyone who helped make your project a success, big or small.

8. Learn from failures.

Okay, now take strong action!
