Building Your Email List Using Social Media

building your email listBuilding your email list really boils down to two things.  First is creating things that create your list (lead capture pages, opt-in forms, lead magnets, and so on).  And second, pushing traffic to those things. We’ll concentrate on the latter in this tutorial. And we’re going to get really concentrated and talk about one major traffic-driving strategy. Marketing on social media!

When you use social media platforms that already have a lot of traffic, you can use social media marketing to get your posts/ads in front of them. They have traffic that is interested in what you have to provide, specifically. If you’re in the gardening niche, for example, you’ll be focusing on the gardening-related traffic that social networking sites attract. It’s not like you’re trying to get everyone on Facebook to visit your website because gardening isn’t for everyone.

building your email listLet’s start with the “which” before we go on to the “how.” Which social media platforms should you use to generate visitors to your lead capture pages, for example? Yes! Because not every social media site will have your target demographic, this is the first thing you must decide. You can use the following methods to see if a social media site has people in your desired demographic:

Tactic #1:

Begin by looking for your target demographic on the social media platform itself. Use keywords to determine whether anyone is discussing your specialty or related topics.

Tactic #2:

Using the same search function as before, see if there are any people running advertising for your niche. You can practically guarantee that your target demographic is on that social media site if individuals are paying money on advertising.

Tactic #3:

What type of material do you produce? Different types of material are preferred by different social media platforms. YouTube, for example, is all about videos, so if you don’t make them, it’s not for you. Find out which social media sites are interested in the type of material you create and ignore the others. There’s no point in paying attention to social media sites that specialise in that type of material if you don’t create it.

Now take those strategies and apply them to the top social media platforms to locate your target demographic and the best fit for your company. The following are the top ten social media platforms that you may utilize to grow your email list:

Facebook

Twitter

LinkedIn

YouTube

Instagram

TikTok

Pinterest

Reddit

Tumblr

NextDoor

Of course, there are many more that you can look into, but I’m only listing the top ten here.

building your email listNow that you’ve determined which social media sites your target audience frequents, it’s time to choose which one to begin with, and I can’t emphasize this point enough. Begin with only one and only one.

After you’ve decided which one to start with, you’ll have to make another decision. Are you planning to employ the social media platform’s paid advertising or will you rely on organic marketing?

If you’re going to use the social networking site’s paid platform, you’ll want to start by understanding how to use it. Don’t get into it without knowing what you’re getting yourself into! You want to learn how to manage your ads or hire someone to do it for you. Don’t skip this section because there is a steep learning curve for paid advertising platforms on social media.

If you don’t have the finances to pay for the platform, you’ll have to pursue the “organic” approach, which is fine because it can be just as effective but takes longer.

building your email listOnce again, you’ll begin by learning. Learn how to use the social media site you’ve chosen and how to get started. Once you’ve gained some experience and are properly set up on the social networking site, you can begin providing material and growing your following. You’ll need to do some study to figure out how to do both of these things strategically so you don’t waste time on things that don’t work, but here are some pointers that will get you started on almost any social media site.

Tip #1: Create a Profile That Is Optimized

You’ll create a profile on most social media sites, and your stuff will be posted there. Make sure you have a well-optimized profile that explains what you do and how your profile and content will benefit them. If you have the ability to link to your website, be sure to link to your lead capture page. Spend some time optimizing your profile because it will be the most important factor in growing your audience and directing them to your lead capture pages and other opt-in forms.

Tip #2: Produce Excellent Content

Researching what others in your niche are doing is the simplest approach to develop fantastic content that gets you followers and people clicking. Analyze the content they produce that receives a lot of attention and utilise it as inspiration for your own work. I’m not suggesting you replicate them, but you can certainly get some inspiration from them.

Another piece of content production advice: Every piece of content you generate should have a purpose. This might be to drive traffic to your lead capture page, a piece of content that directs traffic to your lead capture page or opt-in form, or to increase your social media following.

Tip #3: Engage and interact with others

Because it’s a “social thing,” it’s termed social media. You must communicate with others, and how you do so will vary based on the social networking platform. Post reactions (liking the posts), commenting, sharing, and other forms of interaction are all examples of engaging with people. The more you do this, the more people will notice you, which will help you grow your following and get your material recognized!

building your email listOnce you’ve gotten one social networking site to work for you and have the time to add another, I recommend doing so, but don’t try to do more than one at a time or you’ll burn out and see little to no returns.

Take Action!!

I realize I’ve just given you a lot of information to process.

Social media marketing is a high-traffic strategy that pays off when done correctly. To summarize everything, here’s what you’ll need to do to get started.
